Seven Unveils Curved Down Tube for 2010 Mountain Bikes
For 2010, Seven Cycles introduces a curved down tube design for all Mountain bike models. This replaces the previous down tube gusset solution. Why has Seven updated our design? Here are seven compelling reasons:
- Stronger frame: A curved down tube requires fewer welds than a traditional down tube and gusset combination, resulting in a stronger frame
- Improved alignment: because less welding means less heat distortion and alignment issues, each frames is straighter when it exits our welding department
- Lighter weight: Removing the gusset reduces total frame weight
- Fewer parts: A curved downtube requires fewer frame elements, reducing potential defect opportunities
- Enhanced fork compatibility: The curved down tube allows for additional fork clearance, ensuring more brands of forks can be used successfully
- Forward thinking: The curved down tube is engineered for compatibility with future fork innovations
- Contemporary design: Curved down tubes have become the de facto standard for mountain bikes across the industry
Frequently Asked Questions
| • | Will the down tube remain butted on SL and SLX models? Yes, the new design does not affect whether or not a tube is butted. |
| • | Can I still get the straight down tube with the gusset? No; because this new design is superior for all the reasons listed, we do not plan to offer alternative options. |
