Everyone wants to weld titanium frames. Or at least, everyone we bump into seems to want this job. It's easy to understand why. Being a bike welder is like being a rockstar. You have starry-eyed cycling enthusiasts following you around in awe of your abilities.

Then there's the job itself. TIG welding thin wall tubular titanium may be one of the best welding sensations in the world. It runs clean, smooth, quiet, and is very controllable. Pull your welding shield down, and it's just you and that molten pool that you control completely. The job has all the elements a capable welder wants in a career.

Being a superhero in a clean, serene environment sounds great, right? For some, it is nirvana. However, welding is a unique and difficult skill. It's one thing to create a strong weld. It's quite another to make a strong and beautifully perfect weld. In fact, about one in thirty people that apply or perform a series of test welds at Seven make it past the first interview. Welding Role Summary

Seven's TIG welding job entails taking individual machined tubes and parts and welding them into the most beautiful, most durable, and straightest frames ever made. This requires extreme skill, practice, confidence, and focus.

Every frameset we weld is custom-designed for a specific rider. We don't build batches. You focus on one frame at a time to ensure it's straight and true. Our weld fixturing is extremely adaptive, so we can build and weld any size and type of frame.

As a welder, you also machine some elements that get welded onto the frame. You use a number of fixtures, hand files, drills, and dial calipers as well. We often use deceptively simple tools to make perfect frames.

Once you graduate from apprenticeship and begin welding complete frames at production quality levels, you will weld customized bicycle frames every day. It's the closest thing to perfection that the customer will ever ride. The next day you do the same thing again and make another customer happy. This reinforcing loop goes on and on but never becomes boring because every frame is different.

During their tenure, welders at Seven almost always become among the best frame welders in the world. Within three years, you will have welded more custom frames than most builders craft in a lifetime. Your welding value will be second to none.
