U.S. Built Custom Bicycles in Titanium and Titanium-Carbon Mix
Both SRAM and Shimano have exceptional offerings, and, very different offerings. Therefore, each kit has different strengths and considerations. Under the Shimano and SRAM headings, you'll find a few truths about these brands. These are generalized statements, so these traits are not true in 100% of cases but they are directionally accurate.
We live in an amazing age of cycling. Nearly every performance level parts kit offered by these two companies works really well. You don't have to worry about the general competency of any part that Seven includes in a kit. The real question is in the nuance of your riding, your interests, and what's important to you.
This may seem like an odd topic but it's important. If you look at the parts kit details from many of the larger brands, you will see a lot of aftermarket and off-brand pieces substituted for high-quality specialty component brands, even small details like cables and housing that should be kit-matching — or upgrades. This might sound trivial but over a few months of riding a high quality housing set will perform much better than cheap imitations that look almost identical. Seven ensures all parts are kit-matching or even upgrades. While this makes the price a bit higher we find that you end up with a better performing bike, that lasts longer, and has a lower total cost of ownership.
Some of the most common reasons riders choose one brand over another include:
