U.S. Built Custom Bicycles in Titanium and Titanium-Carbon Mix

On the Road: Tony B Evergreens Chicagoland

We built this Evergreen SL (with S&S Couplers) for our good friend Tony at Velosmith Bicycle Studio on Chicago’s north shore. Tony wanted it for an annual ride he does with some friends. That ride involves a pre-dawn alarm clock, a train trip and a long, rambling food-filled ride back home.

Perfect Circles

Circles is a different kind of bike shop. Nestled into a busy neighborhood in Nagoya, Japan, Circles is a multi-level celebration of cycling and cycling culture that includes a high-volume service center, a paint shop, a clothing store, a breakfast cafe, and at any given moment another business that springs from the mind of its owner, Shinya Tanaka. Shinya is a dreamer, a guy who spends as much time thinking about where cycling fits in Japanese society as he does about what bikes to stock in his shop, and we have enjoyed working with him to augment what we are doing in Japan. From his office at Circles he also runs a nationwide distribution network called SimWorks.

During a recent visit, he brought a photographer and videographer to capture what we do, so that he can share his passion for hand-made bikes with his already ardent customer base.

Here are just a few of the images they captured.

Michael’s Mudhoney SL

We built this Mudhoney SL with our friends at Wheat Ridge Cyclery in Colorado. It is Michael’s second Seven. A tall rider, with a prior back injury, Michael still loves to ride hard, so we built this one to keep him comfortable while maintaining agility and power transfer in the rear triangle. The bike’s finish, with black components and a bead blasted decal, is subtle, but classy.

He says:

Dear Seven,

I just received my Mudhoney SL, THANKS!!!  It’s equipped with Enve 3.4 disc wheels and Ultegra Di2.

Thanks again Seven for fulfilling my cycling dreams!

Michael

Don’s Expat S

As the northern hemisphere heads toward winter, we find ourselves building a lot of specialized commuter bikes, and it seems that each region, according to the severity of its climate has its own preferences for commuting comfort. There is so much we can do to personalize a bike, and commuter bikes tend to be hyper-personalized, so that they become some of the most interesting projects we work on.

Our friends at Outdoors, Inc in Memphis helped us put this one together, a super commuter based on our Expat S platform.

Note the Tiberius handlebar, the bead blasted “decals.”

On the Road – Biketoberfest Marin with City Cycle

Fairfax, California is the birthplace of mountain biking, a sleepy little town in Marin County, north of San Francisco, in the shadow of Mount Tamalpais. Each year Fairfax hosts Biketoberfest Marin, which is exactly what it sounds like, a celebration of cycling, beer and food. Our good friends at City Cycle invited us out for the party, and being the accommodating folks we are, we showed up.

Fairfax is a special place for so many reasons. The cycling culture there is extremely rich, and the Biketoberfest scene was replete with cyclists of every imaginable stripe, roadies, mountain bikers, cruisers, bike packers, steel devotees, Ti worshipers and carbon lovers.

We spent the day doing what we love to do, which is looking at, talking about and appreciating bikes for all they give us, fun, health, transport and a way to express ourselves. The fresh, hot tamales and steadily flowing beer didn’t hurt the ambiance at all, either. A local cafe had set up their tent next to ours. It really couldn’t have been a better day.

City Cycle has two locations, one in Cow Hollow in the city, and one in Corte Madera, Marin. The SF location is one of those legendary shops, one of the first real bike studios in the country, and we have partnered with them on literally hundreds of bikes. The Corte Madera location is much newer and larger, and serves as a cycling gateway to the beautiful roads and trails of greater Marin.

It was nice, as always, to spend the day with them, and we were grateful to have been invited.
