U.S. Built Custom Bicycles in Titanium and Titanium-Carbon Mix

Ted’s Axiom SL

This is Ted’s matte black and bare Ti Axiom SL with disc brakes and Mavic Ksyrium AllRoad Disc wheels. We built this one with the good folks at Get-a-Grip Cycles in Chicago.

Ted says:

Just a note to say, I just had my first long ride out here and I LOVE my SEVEN!

Incredibly comfortable and amazing in the descents.  I’m no longer terrified going downhill!

Happy, happy customer.

Robert’s Axiom SL

Here’s an Axiom SL we built with our old buddy Karl at True Cyclery in New Haven, CT.

Karl just delivered my new Axiom SL. It is gorgeous! Thank you for the excellent bike. I was very concerned as you know about the aesthetics of such a big bike, but the design and workmanship was tremendous. And Karl was superb throughout the entire process. You guys made a great team.

Now, I think I feel some sort of flu coming on. I cannot imagine I am going to be able to work in the office for a full day today.

All the best.

Robert

Harold’s Axiom SL

This is Harold and his old Axiom SL. We built him a new one (see below) recently, and he sent us these photos and a kind note a few weeks ago.

Harold prouldly presents his rebuilt Axiom SL

He writes:

I’ve been tweaking my position on my new frame using the trainer but I hadn’t been outside with it until last night’s group ride.

According to one of the regulars ‘Harold you were really strong last night’, my response was ‘I felt good and the bike feels great’. I still have some more tweaking to get done but the bike feels wonderful. I’m not sure what it is about those traditional frame design compared with the compact design but traditional just works so much better for me.

At a tad over 16 pounds race weight I’m very happy. I’m looking forward to getting in some good miles this weekend thanks to warmer temperatures after doing 63 miles last night. First outside ride report is WONDERFUL!

100,000 Miles

Mick Gould riding his Seven

Following on from yesterday’s post, here’s another remarkable rider doing remarkable things on his Seven.

Mick Gould newspaper clipping

This is Mick. We built Mick’s Axiom SL just this year with our friends at Stout Cyclery, but we feel completely honored that he chose our bike to clock up the 100,000th mile he’s ridden since retiring.

We’ve seen a few photos of Mick and his bike, and the one thing that jumps out of everyone is his smile. This is a guy doing it the right way.

The Future of Clean

One of the best compliments we get about our bikes is that they look clean, which is not to say “not dirty” but that their lines are clean and true and simple. The recent release of SRAM’s eTap components suggests builds are going to get even cleaner. Check out these two very different builds from our friends at Cascade Bicycle Studio, the first an Axiom SL, a straight-ahead road bike with a little bit of Chris King bling to set off the single-color paint job.

The second one is a refined 650b Airheart SL travel bike. Matching Brooks leather saddle and bar tape are classy finishing touches, and the travel readiness only begins with the S&S couplers. Check out the split, hammered fender, too. This is a high example of the intersection of form and function. eTap only makes this one easier to pack.
