U.S. Built Bicycles in Titanium and Carbon-Titanium Mix

Tubeset Overview & Ride Category Matching

Seven offers five distinct tubesets for the majority of our bike models. Choosing the best tubeset for your riding can be simple:

Material Carbon fork for any riding: road, gravel, or mountain Suspension fork for gravel or mountain bike riding

Tubing Configurations

Figure 1 defines the fundamental differences between Seven's five tubesets, along with simple graphic examples of how each differs.

Figure 1: Seven has all the meaningful tube variants. Whatever the ride performance you want, Seven has it covered.

All Materials: All Riding Categories

Figure 2 shows frame model appropriateness for riding categories with unsuspended, rigid forks. The carbon PRO and CT designs excel on pavement and dirt roads. Titanium's shock absorption capabilities tend to outshine carbon on trails and rough terrain. If you tour or travel, titanium is the way to go.

All Materials: Offroad, Suspension-Centric Bikes

Figure 3 shows model appropriateness when using a suspension fork. The fork changes the behavior and performance of the frame material.

Figure 3: As the terrain gets rougher and benefits from front suspension, titanium still provides a smoother overall ride. Carbon tends to be lighter and more actively transmits vibration and shock to the rider.

FlowState Rear Triangle Option

Seven's Flowstate rear triangle provides the smoothest ride of any hardtail frame design. Available on the S and SL titanium models only.

MidTail Upgrade: Dropped Seat Stays

The PRO is available with our MidTail upgrade. The CT model is not available with the upgrade. Figure 5 shows that the dropped seat stays provide additional performance and smoothness as the terrain gets rougher. The MidTail can be ideal for gravel and road riding.

Figure 5: The falling lines of the carbon PRO and CT designs represent performance decline as the terrain gets rougher. Carbon prefers smoother terrain, such as pavement and maintained dirt roads. Rougher terrain transmits more shock to the rider. This can be good or bad, depending on your riding style and cycling intentions.

Carbon-Titanium with Suspension Fork, Offroad-Centric Riding Categories

Figure 6 shows the focused riding categories at which Seven's carbon-titanium excels. Carbon is not the ideal material for mountain bike frames due to its harsh ride and susceptibility to damage. Regardless, Seven's carbon mated to titanium provides the best balance of performance of any carbon-centric bike.
